Weekly News & Views

Lent begins March 1, 2017

January 31, 2017

Beginning of Lent on March 1, 2017
Shrove Tuesday: Burning of Palms and Pancake Supper
Lent begins with our Shrove Tuesday burning of the Ashes Ceremony and a traditional Pancake Supper following the service.   The Burning of Ashes begins at 4:45 PM with Pancakes after the service.

Ash Wednesday, March 1 with services at 12 NOON and 5:30 PM
Ashes are placed on our foreheads as a sign that we have repented (turned to a new life) and intend to follow God's Way.  The ceremony also connects us directly to Jesus as he begins his 40 days and nights in the wilderness to prepare himself for his ministry - so, we too, are called to Jesus' ministry to all peoples, particularly this Englewood community..
